See the post I just made to d.D.announce. Let's continue to use this thread for discussion. However, for attendance confirmation and presentation abstracts, mail me directly please.

Thanks,

Hey, I have a car! When you pay the transport to Portland, I'll pay the fuel to Seattle! :D

When is this realistically going to be? On behalf of all students, I encourage the organizers to swing early (late August).

There will, of course, be a number of people that just will not be able to make it, so some recording of proceedings would be very appreciated.

A quick check shows me that it would cost around $3000 (USD) for me to
attend.

On the other hand, airfares will probably be higher in August.

Please see the email I posted to the .announce newsgroup. The conference dates will be pretty much entirely dictated by the preferences expressed by those that will attend it. If you are going to attend, please send me mail with your preferred dates.

I'm not going to set dates based on what people think will be good dates for other people.

Given that the date is flexible, that's the only right approach.
