I have an idea which hopefully should bring a fortune of money (hopefully) and great popularity for "D" (Walter) OK , I want to organize a joint venture company , which means instead of paying for employees , every employee would be a partner in the business for a certain percentage of profits. What's required some-kind of assurance from Walter that he'd continue to develop "D" and if decides to quit or if one day he'd get tired of "D" we shouldn't be stuck, left in the dark. A few application programmers , a few system programers and a few library programers. Every body must be advanced in his field and at least a good intermediate level in the "D" language. For who ever wants to join please write to hersh@realtorsgroup.us looking forward to hear frow you. Hershel Fisch |

Hershel Fisch I've been working on D for 3 years, and have no intention of quitting. |

To make the community sure, you should state that if at any time you chease support for the D reference implementation, it will be released under the public domain. It's important because life is complicated, and one couldn't know what can eventually happen. For example, you can loose interest in D, having developed a new visual 3D programming language. Or you are forced to make a living selling MS software (or, lastly, see http://www.uslegalforms.com/last_will_and_testament.htm :-). Ciao |

I'd do it if I could, but I cannot. The best I can do is what is done now - the front end source, and all the library is GPL'd or freely usable. I do my best to encourage the ongoing development of the gnu back end for D. > It's important because life is complicated, and one couldn't know what can eventually happen. I honestly doubt even Walter up and leaving would be enough to kill D at this stage of the game. There is a currently existing compiler whose source has been partially released and a GCC frontend project that's making wonderful progress. And that's not even taking all the people who just want to write D into account.

Posted in reply to Andy Friesen | Back to the point , who ever is interested in joining our team , it might be a life time opportunity. Nobody is asked to drop thier jobs, as a side job . In the begining for sure, well , when the honey flows , their's no point keeping two jobs . Thanks Hershel Fisch. hershe@realtorsgroup.us p.s. please read the begining of this thread. |

Posted in reply to Hershel Fisch | No offense to Hershel... Am I missing something? Why are people responding so readily to somebody that just suggests something out the blue without any background information or identity. Is this somebody that's well known for joint ventures or business plans? Otherwise... Trust must be at an all time high right now. I'm just waiting for the part where everybody signs a check to be collected by a financial officer named Hershel... (just a one time payment! no more! no less!) Wouldn't somebody approach Walter first in private before posting such a suggestion here? Later, Doubting Thomas :-P |

Hmm, yes... I should also mention that I am Dr. Mobuto Seko from Nigeria, and need a few good men to lend me $10,000 so I can recover a vast sum of money from a government bank account in Liberia...
;)
If anybody here goes for this, maybe I can also interest you in a nice
mortgage or some prescription-free viagra?
Haha, anyway, I think we all respect Walter's need to keep the back-end
under his own license, and I for one appreciate the availability of the
compiler and tools for free (beer-wise), even if I don't get a lot of time to use them, unfortunately. Thanks Walter!
