Recent threads here have made it pretty clear that VisualD is a critical piece of D infrastructure. (VisualD integrated D usage into Microsoft Visual Studio.)

Andrei, myself and Rainer (VisualD's champion) are all in agreement on this.

What do you think?

Well, since github already has a VisualD repo under dlang.org, I guess it's already decided? :)

I agree, though, that this inclusion is important to eliminate the perception that VisualD is second-class, and to encourage better IDE integration for D (even though I don't use IDEs myself).

Then it should be here: http://dlang.org/download.html

That's the most important change that needs to be made.

Yeah, why not.

LiteIDE is a good thing for Go. Eclipse CDT and Code::Blocks are good for C++. Clearly though Emacs is the one true editor. As is VIM.

Having excellent support for editors and IDEs for D programming is the mark of a strong and confident community. Support diversity, show confidence. Standard marketing :-)

Sadly, Visual Studio is a huge player in the game. Make the connection :-)

At GoingNative, even clang demo'd a prototype running under VS.

Why sadly? It's a fantastic product.

The only thing I don't like is the reliance on Visual Assist and ReSharper for refactoring features that other IDEs offer out of the box.
